JUNE 2024 - Steady Growth of Orvia Pekin Strains in the Far East Asia

Although it may seem trivial, witnessing Orvia strains flourishing thousands of kilometers away from our historic production basins is a significant milestone in itself. Our Pekin strains have successfully gained ground in a new territory.

Bangladesh, a region with deep-rooted historical ties to duck culture, particularly in egg consumption, has embraced the Pekin Orvia strain. It’s noteworthy that a prominent national player has chosen our strain to spearhead the Pekin meat industry in their country.

The country in question is Bangladesh. The export department of our group has recently finalized an exclusivity contract to supply ST5H breeders (PS) to a major player in the region: DHAKA DUCKS & HATCHERY LTD. Renowned locally for its successful strategy in supplying vibrant chickens, the company decided in September 2023 to introduce a range of meat ducks into its national market, which boasts a population of 180 million.

Our Orvia Pekin Breeders’ strain was selected for its exceptional reproductive performances and optimal growth potential for their offsprings, offering promising prospects for development in the national meat market for DHAKA DUCKS.

Equipped with resources commensurate with its ambitions, the Bangladeshi company received an initial order of 28,000 Parent Stocks from our farms (representing approximately 31% market coverage, considering the 5.5 million subjects that will derive from it).

This marks a significant milestone for our client, who, in order to ensure the success of this project, visited our operations in both Vietnam and France, for both theoretical and practical training with our group’s teams, and to glean insights from some of our clients’ experiences. These exchanges, coupled with the performance of our animals, reaffirmed their decision. Orvia strains will form the cornerstone of their offering strategy.

Through the exclusivity contract we’ve signed, DHAKA DUCKS & HATCHERY LTD benefits from the support, service, and expertise of our technical teams, embodying the Orvia Experience.

DHAKA DUCKS’ commitment is further evidenced by their expansion plans, with new buildings already underway to increase the overall usable area to 30,000 sqm, in addition to the existing 15,000 sqm !
